Who Are We and How Can We Help?
Our aim is to reduce the effects of methamphetamine and other drugs in the workforce in order to prevent loss, protect profits and manage risk.

MethCon Group is a consultancy company lead by Director Mike Sabin, a former Police Detective with several years experience in the field of drug investigation and the specialised area of methamphetamine manufacture.

MethCon Group can provide comprehensive drug educational programmes and training to ensure that an employer's legal responsibilities to the workforce are met, while protecting their organisation against financial loss and reduced productivity, and empowering their staff to make appropriate, informed and considered decisions about methamphetamine and other drugs.

We offer several different training programmes for staff, supervisors and businesses who are at risk of exposure to meth users and Meth Labs. The programmes are tailored specifically for your business circumstances and are aimed at achieving outcomes relevant to the clients particular risks. In addition, we also offer key note speaking for conferences and meetings, as well as specialised presentations for secondary schools, aimed at providing students and teachers with the knowledge and skills to help in making informed decisions about methamphetamine and other drugs.

Training Programmes
Our training programmes broadly fall into 7 categories:
• General Staff Awareness training
• Supervisor Staff Awareness training
• Meth Clan Lab training
• Retail Staff Awareness Training
• Key Note Speaking
• School presentations
(Mainland Foundation funding school presentations)
• Community and public presentations

Note: Client feedback related to these trainings can be viewed on the Feedback page.

General Staff Training
We will provide your staff with a comprehensive understanding of methamphetamine, and other addictive drugs and their effects and impact on the user, their lives and their employment, and how to recognise those telltale signs of use and manufacture.

The aim of this training is to provide employees with a level of knowledge, awareness and deterrence to create a degree of protection and prevention for them, their family and their employer.

Supervisor Staff Training
In addition to the General Awareness training material, we will ensure that all Supervisors have an understanding of the impact of methamphetamine and other common drugs of abuse to the company, and how to recognise, respond to, and prevent staff members using and manage those that do. This can be tied in with your company's health and safety and/or drug policy.

The aim of this training is to provide Supervisors with the knowledge, skills and strategies required to successfully identify and manage the risks that methamphetamine and other drugs present to their workforce and their company.

Meth Lab Training
In addition to the General Awareness training, we will provide specialist training to staff that could be at risk of exposure to the dangers of a Meth Lab. Participants will learn about the manufacturing process, what to look for and what to do if they discover a Lab in the course of their work.

The aim of the training is to provide participants with the practical knowledge, 'tools' and strategies they need to make meaningful assessments about the people they are dealing with and the environments they are entering, so as to identify and respond to risks to their health and safety.

Retail Training
In addition to the General Awareness training, we will provide specialised training in equipment and substances that retail outlets sell and unwittingly supply to 'Meth Cooks'. Also how to identify and manage the dangers they will face.

The aim of the training is to provide a level of knowledge, awareness and deterrence to prevent as far as possible, people purchasing legitimate retail items and using them for illicit purposes, thereby exposing staff, clients and the community as a whole at risk. For more information see the MethCheck page.

Key Note Speaking
Managing Director Mike Sabin is an experienced speaker and provides Key note speaking at conferences and meetings which provide a broad overview of the problem of methamphetamine as it relates to the client, their business or organisation and the wider community.

The aim of these presentations is to create a platform for understanding and strategising, while also providing meaningful information for assessing potential risks to the client, both from an HR perspective and to profitability

High School Education
MethCon Group provides education to high school students across New Zealand. This education is generally funded through Charitable Trusts, is hard hitting, factual and aims to explain the nature and science of addiction and its inevitability.

The aim of these presentations is to provide students and teachers with an understanding of what makes this drug so destructive, while giving them meaningful ‘tools’ to make their own appropriate, informed decisions relating to methamphetamine and other addictive drugs.

Community and Public Presentations
MethCon Group can provide presentations to community and family groups which give a broad overview of the problem of methamphetamine as it relates to individuals, wider society and how as communities working together we can make a difference.

The aim of these presentations is to provide a level of community knowledge and understanding that can help reduce the risks and implications this drug brings to individuals, businesses and the communities we are all a part of.

ACC and OSH
Methamphetamine use has been linked to increases in accidents and injuries which is a risk that must be acknowledged and managed by the employer. Furthermore, drugs are now specified as a hazard in the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and as such the employer has a legal responsibility to take all practicable steps to eliminate the risks they present.

Many employees can be exposed to risk from methamphetamine through both internal and external factors. It could be through associates, workmates or a member of the public using Meth, or by discovering a Meth Lab.

Would they know what to look for or what to do to keep themselves safe?

The Solution

MethCon Group can carry out a comprehensive audit of your business or organisation and identify the key risk areas so that strategies and training can be implemented to manage and minimise the risk from methamphetamine and Meth labs.

We can work with you on an ongoing basis to ensure that the strategies and training put in place are successfully achieving your objectives with all staff groups. This will help you to develop a safe, informed and proactive workforce as your business moves forward.

MethCon Group Philosophy
As a company our philosophy is to address the issue in a proactive, inclusive and tangible way. It is important for the success of any drug, health and safety policy, or drug testing regime that it is supported by the appropriate training and awareness, which should be shared throughout, from the newest employee, to the most senior of management. This helps to ensure that staff feel empowerment; feel valued and become advocates for the direction the company is taking in response to this issue.

The training packages are unashamedly hard hitting and involve several attention grabbing components in order to impart a lasting and clear message about the hazards that methamphetamine and other drugs bring to themselves, the company and the community they live in.

While the training provides assurances to the employer in terms of their obligation under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, it also provides a mechanism to reduce the potential for lost productivity, theft, fraud and absenteeism, which can be significant where methamphetamine is concerned. All these implications have the potential to reduce the overall profitability and success your company.

Can you afford to sit back and watch your staff or business fall victim to methamphetamine?

If you ignore this problem IT WON'T GO AWAY...but chances are your profits will.
